1. To Design a Room with the Murphy Bed System, MEASURE & DRAW the room information directly onto the layout grid board with the wet-erase marker, or on a clean sheet of paper. This paper room outline can be held in place on the planning board with magnetic paper strips (included). A separate drawing should be done for plan-view, and for each wall of elevation views. All should be drawn using the scale 1/4" = 1 ft.
• Plan-View Info Needed: Room dimensions (L X W, in inches)
• Location and size of doors, windows, heating devices
• Location of Electrical / Telephone Receptacles
• Location & size of obstructions such as support columns, stairways, etc.

Elevation Info Needed: Room width & ceiling height on main wall where system will be placed (info needed for all walls requiring Location & size of doors, windows, heating devices etc. elevation drawing) Location & size of any obstructions, attic doors, etc. Location of Electrical / Telephone Receptacles.

2. Place magnetic furniture symbols on the layout grid surface within the perimeters of your pre-draw floor plan until you have achieved your desired plan.
   • Plan-View Drawings: Plan-View symbols are located on the lower sections of both pages. Start by placing the desired width of wall unit cabinets and desk surfaces in position within your project area. Upper Storage symbols can be stacked on top of desk surfaces. To determine how far a Murphy Bed extends into the room, a bed symbol can be placed in front of the bed cabinet.
   • Elevation Drawings: Once your plan-view is complete, you can now customize your Murphy Bed System by placing the Elevation symbols that correspond to the cabinets on your plan-view drawing. Upper Storage and Base Storage symbols can be stacked on Desk Unit symbols. At the end of each row of cabinets you will need to 'finish' the run with a Right Gable (unless a Radius End cabinet is used).
   • 90 Degree Corners: When planning cabinet configurations that turn 90 deg. corners, a flat panel symbol of the desired cabinet depth is used to maintain the correct width of your Elevation view. This panel represents the side of the cabinet run extending from the elevation view you are planning.
3. Photocopy your room plan results. Any revisions or changes can be done quickly & easily by adding or removing or repositioning magnetic symbols. Now you see how easy it is to achieve professional results in just minutes!
